  • 2 glasses of water
  • 2 eggs (reserve the yolk of one for the topping)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 5.5 cups of flour
  • 125g butter or margarine (for intermediate layers)
  • Feta cheese (for filling)



  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 glasses of water, 1 whole egg, and 1 egg white with 1 teaspoon of salt.
  2. Gradually add 5.5 cups of flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  3. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions. Roll out each portion into a thin sheet.
  4. Melt 125 g of butter or margarine. Brush each sheet of dough with the melted butter, then layer them on top of each other.
  5. Crumble feta cheese evenly over the top layer of dough.
  6. Roll the layered dough into a log, then coil the log into a spiral shape. Place the spiral on a greased baking sheet.
  7. Beat the reserved egg yolk and brush it over the top of the spiral.
  8. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
