Ingredients
- 1 medium head of green cabbage, chopped
- 1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 6 slices of bacon, chopped
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup chicken broth (optional)
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set it aside, leaving the drippings in the skillet.
- In the same skillet, add olive oil if needed and sauté the onions until translucent, about 3 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the chopped cabbage, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage softens and starts to caramelize.
- If the mixture gets too dry, add chicken broth to prevent sticking and enhance the flavor.
- Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 3-5 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink and are fully cooked.
- Return the crispy bacon to the skillet and toss everything together. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
