Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 medium head of green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 pound raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 6 slices of bacon, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth (optional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set it aside, leaving the drippings in the skillet.
  2. In the same skillet, add olive oil if needed and sauté the onions until translucent, about 3 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the chopped cabbage, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage softens and starts to caramelize.
  4. If the mixture gets too dry, add chicken broth to prevent sticking and enhance the flavor.
  5. Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 3-5 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink and are fully cooked.
  6. Return the crispy bacon to the skillet and toss everything together. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
