Full Recipe:

Ingredients:

Dough:

  • 1 1/4 cup of warm milk
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of yeast
  • 1/4 cup of oil
  • 3 1/2 cups of flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt

Filling:

  • 5 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup of sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of starch

Sauce:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup of cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup of butter, softened
  • A splash of vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until the yeast is activated and frothy.
  2. Add the oil, flour, baking powder, and salt to the yeast mixture. Knead the dough until it’s smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour.
  3. Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  4. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. For the filling, spread the softened butter evenly over the dough. Mix the sugar, cinnamon, and starch together and sprinkle it over the butter.
  6. Starting from the long side, roll the dough up tightly into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal slices.
  7. Place the cinnamon roll slices in a greased baking dish, leaving some space between each roll. Cover and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the cinnamon rolls for about 15 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.
  9. While the cinnamon rolls are baking, prepare the sauce by mixing together the powdered sugar, cream cheese, butter, and vanilla until smooth.
  10. Once the cinnamon rolls are baked, let them cool for a few minutes before drizzling the sauce over the top.
